Casual Karting is the Mario Kart casual competition made for players who just want to have fun. With no eliminations until grand finals, minimum wait times, prizes for the top 4, and a relaxed atmosphere, it’s the perfect way to meet new friends and chill out!
Low sodium environment for casual gamers
No experience required. This event is focused on having fun and creating hilarious memories. Players will start in a Swiss bracket playing in groups of four across four tracks. Everyone will get to play multiple rounds until the end of the event. At the end of the event we will cut to our top players who will compete for prizes. Whether this will be your first time playing Mario Kart or you’ve been playing for years you are welcome here.
How the event works
CHOOSE YOUR KART: Before 2:30 PM check-in to sign up for our Mario Kart 8 Deluxe casual competition. RSVPing is not a guarantee of entry into the tournament, but you do get priority. There is a 24 player cap and it is first come, first serve. Come early to guarantee your spot!
3, 2, 1, RACE: We will call your matches and tell you where to go. You will sit down and play in pods of four with easy CPUS on 4 random tracks. At the end of your four person match, record what score (not place) you got on the scorecard given to you and report back to the organizers. Wait times between matches may be up to 30 minutes.
NEXT LAP: Each match afterwards you will face people that scored similar to you. Score high enough and you’ll make the cut to play for prizes at the end of the event.
Rule Set
All matches are played in the following ruleset:
- 3-4 Players
- 150 CC
- Normal Items
- Easy CPUs
- 4 Random Tracks

Gizmo Brew Works – Durham Taproom has a nearby parking lot. It is located on the second floor and has an elevator on one side of its building.
